Install series 3 of the Excel Add-in so you can work with data from your Anaplan modules and saved views in Microsoft Excel.

Before you begin:

You should also uninstall any existing versions of the Excel Add-in from your device before you install a different version. Also, you should not install multiple versions of the Excel Add-in on the same device.

Note: Some virus detection software may flag the Excel Add-in installer as containing malicious code when they detect the Add-in connects to a remote site. This is a false positive. The Excel Add-in contains code that allows it to connect to the Anaplan website and to execute server-side scripts.

To install the Excel Add-in:

  1. Double-click the .msi file you downloaded.
    The Excel Add-in Setup Wizard appears.

  1. Click Next.
  2.  Read and accept the terms in the license agreement, and click Next.
  3. Choose an installation type.
    There are two installation types:
    • Only for me — installs the Add-in for you only. 
    • Everybody — installs the Add-in for multiple users of the device.
      Only select Everybody if you've been informed to do so by your Anaplan Tenant administrator.
      When an update is available, standard (non-administrator) users must consult with their company's system administrator to carry out the update.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Choose an authentication type.
    Select either:
    • Anaplan username and password to sign in to the Add-in using the same email address and password you use to log in to Anaplan.
      You can then log in to the Add-in using the same credentials.
    • Single Sign-On (SSO) if your organization uses single sign-on.
      Enter your SSO friendly name(opens external page), which you can obtain from your Tenant administrator.
      Your SSO friendly name is case sensitive.
      It displays at the end of your SSO URL:
  6. Click Next.
  7. Choose where you want the Add-in to be installed, and click Next.
    If you want to change where the Add-in is installed, click Browse.
    Then, navigate to where you would like the Add-in to be installed, then click OK.
  8. Click Install.
    Once the Add-in installs, click Finish.
    The installation completes.

Next time you open Excel, the Anaplan tab displays at the top of the screen, in the ribbon. 

If you can't see the Anaplan tab, enable the add-in.
