The settings in Model Settings > Time create the framework for model data. This framework is called the Model Calendar. Each module and line item can have its own timescale, depending on the Calendar Type.
Note: The CURRENTPERIODSTART calculation function uses the start date of the current period, set in the Model Calendar.
The Calendar Types for setting a model's timescale include:
- Calendar Months/Quarters/Years
- Weeks: 4-4-5, 4-5-4, or 5-4-4
- Weeks: General
- Weeks: 13 4-week Periods
Warning:
- Changing the current fiscal year effectively starts the new year with a clean, unpopulated model. To retain the data for the previous year, ensure to either copy the model, or set the Number of Past Years to 1 in the Model Calendar tab, before you change the current fiscal year.
- Changing the Calendar Type automatically realigns all time ranges.
It's also possible to have mixed timescales within a model.
Once you've set the timescale for a model, you can also:
Additionally, you can set up Year-on-Year (YoY) comparisons with multi-year timescales or change the date format in your browser.
