  2. Excel Add-in Series 3
  3. Connect Excel with Anaplan
  4. Clone a connection

In series 4 of the Excel Add-in, use Clone to duplicate a connection, and its data, into a new Excel worksheet. If you just copy an Excel worksheet, the new worksheet does not contain a connection.

You will need to be signed in to the Excel Add-in to clone a connection.

When you clone a connection, both the connection to Anaplan and the contents of the worksheet are copied. Any data that has been entered into the cells in the worksheet that isn't from Anaplan is also copied.

Be aware that if you clone a connection linked to a specific view, you will not be able to pivot the dimensions in the worksheet. You will need to pivot the view in the Anaplan model and refresh your data in the Excel Add-in. If you pivot the view in Anaplan, this affects the original worksheet when that connection is refreshed.

To clone a worksheet:

  1. In Excel, click the Anaplan tab.
  2. In the worksheet you want to clone, click Clone.
    The Clone connection dialog displays.
  3. Click Yes.

The Anaplan connection and cell data are copied into a new worksheet.

The new worksheet is automatically given the same name as the original worksheet, with a number at the end — Company profit (2) — but you can rename it.

We may update our documentation occasionally, but will only do so in a way that does not negatively affect the features and functionality of the Anaplan service.
