Here's a list of considerations to refer to when you use the Anaplan Excel Add-in.
Version upgrade | To upgrade to the latest version of the Excel Add-in, refer to: Upgrade your Excel Add-in. |
Cell extract count limit | There is a limit of 1,000,000 cells per worksheet. However, there is no limit to the number of worksheets you can use to display Anaplan data in a workbook. |
Cell range | In order to include a cell range in a Refresh, keep the cell range together at all times, rather than break or split it. |
List size limit | We only support lists up to 1,000,000 items. If a list is longer than this, it can't be loaded in Excel. |
Totals display at the bottom of lists | Totals only display at the bottom of lists in the Excel Add-in. |
Subsidiary views | Subsidiary views aren't available. You can connect to a module with subsidiary views in it, but the Excel Add-in will detect these and filter them out. |
Slightly slower speeds on first extract or refresh | The first extract, or refresh of data from Anaplan into the Add-in may take a few seconds. Once the data is loaded into memory, future extracts or refreshes of the same connection will be quicker. |
Once extracted to a grid location, Anaplan data cannot be moved | The location of extracted data is determined by the starting cell you select when you make a connection. If you try to move the grid or copy data to another worksheet (or another location within the same worksheet), the connection to Anaplan breaks. |
Office Online in Office 365 | The Excel Add-in only works on Office 365, Office 2010, 2013, and 2016 installed locally on a PC. |
Localization | The Excel Add-in only supports English. |
Brought-Forward | For a Brought-Forward configuration for a line item that is changed in a module, and you click Refresh: The change displays in the Excel Add-in after you've logged out and logged in again. If you do not interact with the Excel Add-in for more than 30 minutes you are automatically logged out. Next time you log in, the change is applied. |
Excel 2010 dropdown issues | Users using Excel 2010 may occasionally experience issues with drop-down lists in the Pivot and Filter dialog. Once you select a dimension to include on a Page, you are unable to use the drop-down list again to select or deselect another item. If the ribbon becomes unresponsive, log out then log in again. |
Connect to an Anaplan module | If you upgrade from Excel Add-in version 2.6 to version 3.0 or higher, you can connect to a module directly, without having to connect via a saved view. |
File compatibility for different versions | If you open a set of files in a higher version, you can no longer use those files in an earlier version. |
Version 2.6 | Version 2.6 is the only version that can coexist with version 3.0 or higher. |
Formatting and style settings | You can choose to apply Anaplan styles and formatting in a worksheet. However, you need to apply either all Anaplan styles and formatting, or not apply any Anaplan formatting at all. |
Keep Excel Formatting checkbox | If you select the Keep Excel Formatting checkbox, no changes in Anaplan formatting are inherited by Excel when you click Refresh. |
Install C++ message showing during uninstall | During the uninstall process for version 3.0, you may see a notification that asks you to install C++. If you see this message, visit our Customer Care |
Workbook functionality | When you apply functionality, it only applies to the workbook you're in at the time. |
Multi-Sheet connection | We recommend you keep to within 20 Excel worksheets or at the most, 25, for each Multi-Sheet connection for optimum performance. |
