Module & Dashboard Tabs

When you open a model, the modules and dashboards displayed depends on whether: you're a workspace administrator, you have Workflow enabled, you've been assigned a landing dashboard.

Apart from Contents, you'll notice a number of tabs at the top of the screen. (If your role is assigned a landing dashboard, you'll see this next to the tabs you have access to.)

Workflow (if enabled)
Model Map (workspace administrators only)
Settings (workspace administrators only)

You can't reorder these three tabs, and you can’t float them, but you can float dashboard, module, or subsidiary view tabs.

Each module or dashboard you select in Contents will open in a separate tab. If you select a Functional Area, all the modules and dashboards within it will open in separate tabs.

Here is everything you need to know when working with modules and dashboards tabs:

Icons on tabs

In Contents, modules have this icon to differentiate them from dashboards (views are indented under their source module).

Dashboards don't have icons in Contents, but they do have icons on tabs, to help you keep track of where you are.

If another module or dashboard tab is in focus, your landing dashboard displays a Home icon to the left of the dashboard name so you can quickly return to it. You can also click the model name to go back to your landing dashboard.
When your landing dashboard is in focus, the dashboard toolbar icon replaces the home icon.

Navigate tabs

Each module or dashboard opens in a new tab. When the number of open tabs exceeds the width of the screen, arrows assist you with navigation.

scroll left through the open tabs
scroll right through the open tabs
display a list of the last nine items accessed (plus any tabs you have access to). You can select any item on the list.

Rearrange tabs

To rearrange the order of module and dashboard tabs, drag them to where you want them to be. A green indicator displays above the tabs to help with placement.

Detach tabs

To detach a tab, right-click and select Undock or drag and release the tab.

To have two tabs open on screen at the same time, side-by-side, drag and release the tab and then use the resize arrows to adjust the size.

Once detached, you can drag the tabs around to where you want them to be.

Re-attach tabs

To dock a floating tab, double-click the tab.

Close module and dashboard tabs

To close individual modules or dashboards, click the cross next to the tab name, or right-click the tab and click Close.

To close all open items (including your landing dashboard), right-click any tab and then select Close All.

Close all other module and dashboard tabs

To close all open tabs except one:

  1. Right-click the tab you want to remain.
  2. Select Close Others.

Display the landing dashboard

Close all will also close your landing dashboard. To display your landing dashboard again, click the model name at the top of the screen.
