Select Items to Show
Users can quickly and easily choose which line items to display on a module or dashboard grid using the Select Items to show menu option on the:
- Format menu;
- grid element menu (white triangle in a blue circle); or
- right-click context menu.
Select Items to show is not available in Blueprint.
Select Items to show applies to lists, line items, Time, and Versions. When Select Items to show is selected, the Select Items dialog is displayed.
The Select Items to show dialog will not open if the view of the data displays more than 4000 items. Where the number of items exceeds 4000, filter the view to reduce it to less than 4000 items.
Select Items and Blueprint
Choices made in the Select Items dialog are not carried through to the module Blueprint.
All the items in Blueprint are displayed in the Select Items dialog except where filtering has been applied to the grid. Filtering is always honored so filtered items are not displayed in the Select Items dialog.
Select Items dialog
The Select Items dialog is split into two panes: the left-hand side, All Items, shows all the items that can be selected; the right-hand side, Items to Show, shows the items that have been selected from All Items.
Each line item is treated independently.
Where a hierarchy displays in All Items, the items will be in the same order as they are on the grid (including indentation).
Items to Show
The items in Items to Show are displayed in the order in which they are selected. Where parent and child items are selected in a different order to the order in the hierarchy, they are displayed in the order selected in Items to Show.
If a parent item is selected and moved to Items to Show, its child item(s) will not be moved with it.
The number of items that can be displayed in Items to Show is limited to 1000.
Users should be aware that, where items in different areas of the hierarchy have similar names, the unique identifier from a numbered list may be the only way to identify their parent item.
- Click to select a single item.
- Ctrl/Cmd + click selects multiple items.
- Shift + click selects multiple contiguous items.
- To move the items selected from All Items to Items to Show, click the right chevron.
- To move the items selected from Items to Show to All Items, click the left chevron.
- To move all items from All Items to Items to Show, click the right double chevron.
- To move all items from Items to Show to All Items, click the left double chevron.
Items in the Items to Show dialog can be reordered by dragging them to the required location within the list of items — this will not carry through to the module Blueprint.
Search Items to Show
The All Items and Items to Show dialogs each have a Search function. Users can search for text contained in item names to reduce the number of items available to select. When a search is in progress, on either side of the dialog, the Apply button at the bottom of the dialog is disabled.
The Apply button, enabled for administrators only, applies the choices made in the Items to Show panel of Select Items to show to the grid. Selecting Apply does not save the selections made to the grid or dashboard — an administrator would need to save the dashboard or grid to apply the changes.
Reselect items to show
After the Apply button has been selected, the Reselect Items to Show menu option is displayed instead of Select Items to Show. Selecting Reselect Items to Show opens the Reselect Items dialog which displays exactly the same behavior as the Select Items dialog.
Remove a selection
Select Show All Rows/Columns on the right-click context menu.
