Copy data from one intersection in your model to another. For example, if you want to copy data from the Actual scenario to the Forecast Scenario.

Role Authorizations control access to the Copy Data utility. For dimension member selection, the source restricts users to selecting members for which they have read or write access. The target restricts users to selecting members for which they have write access.

To open the utility and select the model:

  1. Navigate to Maintain > Utilities > Copy Data.
  2. The Copy Data utility shows the default consolidation model. If you need another consolidation model, select the Select Model icon on the toolbar.
  3. From the Model dropdown, select the model, then choose OK.

The main toolbar menu is located at the upper right. These are the descriptions of the icons:

Reset

Resets the form to the previously saved options.

Run

Runs the utility.

The Copy Data utility enables you to select:

  • A source intersection to copy data from.
  • A target intersection to copy data to.
  1. Specify the source parameters for copying data by selecting the Find icon.
  2. Specify the target parameters for copying data by selecting the Find icon.
    • The copy will be performed for all members in that dimension if neither a source nor a target is defined for that dimension.
    • The source data is defined by the dimensions in the selected model, such as Account, Audit, Currency, DataView, Date, Entity, Intercompany, Movement, and Scenario.
    • A Source Scenario must always be defined.
      Target Scenario
and Target Date must always be defined.
    • By default, source is set to All. Target is set to Same as source for all dimensions.
    • If a source is defined for a given dimension but a target isn't defined, the target will be the same as the source.
    • You can copy from one leaf member to another in any dimension.
    • You can copy from one parent member to another in any dimension, provided the parent members are the same for both the source and target. You can't copy from one parent member to a different parent member.
    • If you define a target, the source must also be defined for that dimension.
    • You can also select Other type dimensions, such as Products or Cost Centers, in the source and target.
    • The Same as Source option is the default for a given dimension to copy the source dimension's member to the corresponding target. This option is only needed if there's a value in the target that the user wants to delete.
    • The system saves your last parameter choices for future use.

Once all the source and target fields are configured, select the Run icon on the toolbar to copy the data.

Note: The system validates whether the scenario/period combination is open.  If the period/scenario combination is locked, copying data isn't allowed. For more information, see Configure Open Periods. only.
