Simplify the view of a data model by creating a filtered subset of the visible dimensions, hierarchies, and members.
For example, the Anaplan Financial Consolidation Data Model has 10 standard dimensions. Working with all 10 dimensions can be cumbersome for end-users, especially if certain dimensions don't apply to their reports.
For example, if an end-user mainly creates variance reports against final consolidated numbers, including dimensions such as Audit and Movement can be confusing and unnecessary.
A model view simplifies a data model by:
- Hiding dimensions and setting defaults for them, so the user doesn't need to set them.
- Providing a default layout when retrieving data, pre-assigning certain dimensions to rows, columns, and slicers.
This predefined layout is a suggested starting point but users have the option to change the orientation and member selections of the view if required. A sample use case would be to create a Model View of the Consolidation Model that hides the Movement, Audit and Dataview dimensions so that users don't need to consider these dimensions when making their report selections.
