You can review the specific attributes that must be set for the consolidation process.
Once the consolidation rules for NCI have been updated, the Account Attribute table must be updated to assign the NCI consolidation rules to specific accounts in the Trial Balance.
To understand how consolidation rules are linked to specific accounts in the Trial Balance:
- Navigate to Explorer.
- Expand the Root folder > Global > Consolidation > Maintenance.
- Select Accounts.
Alternatively, to maintain the attributes:
- Navigate to the Models module.
- Select the Open Dimensions tab, and double-click on the Accounts dimension.
- Maintain the Consolidation attribute against the required accounts.
The form defines the consolidation rules for different account types. The rules show how accounts related to NCI should be treated in the consolidation process. The rules generally consolidate NCI with the group (the parent company and its subsidiaries) except for current earnings where it's without the group and foreign exchange (FX) results are treated separately.
The key attributes are:
- Accounts: It lists the chart of accounts related to equity, earnings, and other financial items. The accounts are categorized and structured in a hierarchical way.
- Consolidation Rule: It specifies how each account in the Accounts column should be treated when you combine financial statements from multiple companies. Additionally, rules indicate whether the accounts should be included with or without the group's consolidation. Create or update consolidation by navigating to the Maintain module > Consolidation card > Consolidation Rules form.
