Create a connection in Anaplan Data Orchestrator to import data from SAP. Then use the connection to extract data and create a source dataset.

Connectivity prerequisites

Before you can create a connection to SAP, you need to meet these prerequisites.

Supported SAP components

The connection supports these SAP components:

  • SAP HANA
  • SAP BW 
  • SAP ECC

This connector uses SAP OData version 4.

SAP connectionAn SAP connection that must be configured in Data Orchestrator using either basic or OAuth 2.0 authentication.
SAP source dataThe source data to be imported must be available in the SAP source system, and accessible through the configured OData service.
SAP user or service accountThe SAP user or service account used by the connection must have permission to access the OData service and read the source data. 
SAP OData service endpointThe SAP OData service endpoint must be accessible from Data Orchestrator. ADO must be able to reach the OData Base URL (HTTPS recommended), and the refresh token endpoint when using OAuth 2.0. 

Create a connection to SAP

You need your SAP credentials to connect the SAP data with Data Orchestrator. View the SAP documentation for more information about your credentials.

To create a connection:

  1. Select Data Orchestrator from the top-left navigation menu.
  2. Choose a dataspace from the list.
  3. Select Connections on the left-side panel.
  4. Select Create connection.
  5. Select the SAP connector and then select Next.
    If you can't find the connector, enter a search term in the Find... field.
  6. On the Connection details page, enter these details and select Next:
    • Name: Create a name for your connection. The name can contain alphanumeric characters and underscores.
    • Description: Enter a description about your connection. You can include additional details or context for the connection.
  7. Select an Auth Type on the Connection credentials screen, enter your SAP connection credentials, and then select Next.

  8. After the connection test is complete, select Done.

Import data

You can import data from SAP with a pipeline or a connection extract. Use the connection you created to configure the pipeline or connection extract.
