When drilling down to the next level of detail contained in a hierarchy, you can set Anaplan XL grids to behave in one of four ways.
Change the setting by choosing Drill Mode from the Grid ribbon or in the properties for the individual grid. Then, choose Standard, Asymmetric, Drill & Replace, or Attribute paths.
Standard drill mode
Standard is the default method. It can be described as Drill and Expand. For example, drilling the Canada member inserts additional rows beneath the Canada member to show the provinces while still displaying the other countries.
Asymmetric drill mode
This mode behaves in the same way as standard when there's only one hierarchy on the axis. The behavior differs when there are two or more hierarchies on an axis. For Standard, when an inner hierarchy is drilled, it's expanded for all the outer members. Asymmetric, it's expanded for the outer member that was in context.
Drill and Replace drill mode
This mode only shows two levels of hierarchy: the drilled member and the children. You can double-click the parent to drill back up a level.
Attribute paths
This mode allows you to display flat lists as an integrated hierarchy. For example, you can nest Country, Category, and Business Type. They'll be displayed in a single column as if they're part of a defined hierarchy, rather than in separate columns.
