Drilling up and down is a way to expand and collapse the cells in a grid report to show their component parts. You can drill down on row or column members to show the child members on the level below, or drill up to hide them.

To drill down on a cell, double-click on the + next to the parent member. The member expands. The symbol modifies it to a -. Double-click the cell again to return the grid to its previous state.

Select Grid properties > Appearance > Show drill indicator to view if a member is drillable.

If a member is drillable, a symbol displays before the member's caption:

+ indicates that a member can be drilled down.

- indicates that a member can be drilled up.

Use Drill across to expand the grid using a dimension that isn't currently in the grid.

In the right-click menu, on the cell you want to expand, select Anaplan XL > Drill across  > Dimension_name > Member_name.
