Perform various maintenance activities related to Dimension and Hierarchy maintenance, extract hierarchies, and create and maintain views, subsets and lists.
Navigate the Models module
Select the Models module from the Navigation pane. Select the Models icon on the top toolbar.
| Name | Description |
| Models | Opens the Data Model maintenance tab. |
| Dimensions | Opens the Hierarchy maintenance tab. |
| Views | Adds model views. |
| Hierarchy Extracts | Extract dimension hierarchies. |
| Subsets | Edit dimension subsets. |
| Lists | Adds lists of dimension members that can be saved and reused. |
Process | Commits the changes to the database. |
Add | Adds a new model or a new hierarchy. |
Process metadata updates
Select the Process icon in the Metadata Management toolbar to send any data model, dimension, subsets, views, or hierarchy changes to the database. It commits all previously saved changes to the database in a single action. This enables you to make multiple changes to the metadata and wait to commit them until you finish all the updates.
Note: If multiple users are editing the same dimension, the last user to select Save overwrites the other user's edits.
Hierarchy Manager
- Replace or append an existing hierarchy using Import Hierarchy.
- Update member captions, operators, properties and parent assignments using Update Hierarchy. You don't need the member for these updates.
- Re-order the child members up and down within the parent using Move Up and Move Down. In this reorder mode, all other hierarchy context menu options are disabled.
- Copy a parent member with all its children and drag and drop leaf members from the base hierarchy to the alternate hierarchy using Alternate Hierarchy.
- Change the rollup operator of parent and leaf members, and change the name, caption and properties of parent members in an alternate hierarchy.
