Create and manage a workflow process in the Workflow Editor. A workflow process is a series of tasks connected by arrows. These processes are one of the primary methods that end-users use to interact with the Consolidation application.
Create a Workflow Process
To create a workflow process:
- Navigate to Explorer and navigate to the folder to create the workflow process.
- Right-click the folder, and select New > Process to create a new workflow process.
- Enter the name of the Workflow Process and select CREATE.
The workflow process is created and the Workflow Editor opens. - Select the Task Toolbox tab to add a new task. The task toolbox appears to the right.
It displays all the workflow objects that can be added to the workflow process. - Select and drag the desired object from the list of objects onto the canvas.
All workflows must have a Start task. - Configure each task as required. For more information on how to configure each task type, see these sections:
- Select the Assign Activities tab to set workflow assignments for each interactive task in a workflow process.
Activities can be assigned to multiple users and multiple roles for Contributors and Supervisors.
- Select + next to Add User to add a user or role to a task.
Only one user or role can be assigned to an Owner.
Edit tasks in a Workflow Process
There are four menu options for workflow tasks. The menu options can be accessed in two different ways.
- Select a task and the edit pop-up menu options will display above the task.
- Right-click a task and the edit context menu displays.
From the edit menus, perform:
| Menu | Actions |
| Edit | Depending on the type of task, a panel on the right allows you to update parameters for the task. |
| Rename | Allows you to rename the task. |
| Duplicate | Allows you to duplicate a task on the canvas. |
| Delete | Allows you to delete a task from the canvas. |
Connect tasks
To connect two tasks:
Select the icon in the middle of the predecessor task and drag the cursor to the successor task. An arrow connects the two tasks.
- If a predecessor task has an approve or reject outcome, select which path this arrow should take. This'll be displayed on the arrow on the canvas. The arrows automatically move as the tasks are rearranged on the canvas.
- To change the arrow's connection points and path, hover over the arrow until it turns black. Then, press the CTRL key and select the arrow to change its connections.
Rearrange the connection points and path once the arrow is highlighted in yellow and the cursor turns from the hand to the pointer.
Select and drag the white circle on the yellow-highlighted arrow, and move the connection point to another green connection point.
To connect an arrow to a different connection point on a task, the arrow segments can also be moved by moving the left/right or up/down connectors on the yellow line.
