File Import task is an interactive task that allow you to import an Excel or CSV file to the data model.

The key parameters include:

NameEnter the name that appears on the task.
Import Definition

Select the Data Import Definition from the list.

Don't select Manual Configuration. The Manual Configuration option is only used for File Imports that were made in earlier versions of the application.

Staging Table Name

This field is only used if Manual Configuration is selected. 

Don't select Manual Configuration. The Manual Configuration option is only used for File Imports that were made in earlier versions of the application.

Transform and Load to Data Model

It indicates that the data should be loaded from the Staging Table to the Data Model. 

If left unchecked, the data will only load into the Staging Table.

Track Data Import

This checkbox enables tracking. The mapping details applied to the source data as it is imported into the model will be tracked.

For example, if during the import, source accounts 4010 and 4010-1 are mapped to target accounts 4010, this detail will be tracked and can later be viewed in the Data Imports Logs. For more information, see Data Import Logs.

Due DateEnter the date the task needs to be completed by. See Common Workflow Task Fields for more information.
Advance RuleSpecify how to advance to the task. The default is All predecessors have completed. 
Info TextThe edit box allows you to add additional information such as instructions that the user may find helpful.

To configure the File Import task:

  1. Drag the File Import task onto the Workflow Editor canvas to add it.
    Find the File Import task in the Application section of the Workflow toolbox.
  2. Select the File Import task and select the Edit icon to edit the parameters in the Task Configuration pane. 
  3. Fill in the required parameters. 
  4. Select OK to apply changes in the Task Configuration pane. 
  5. Select Save to save the workflow.
  6. Select Play in the Workflow Editor toolbar to start the workflow. 
  7. The interactive File Import task appears in the assigned users' Workflow Task List.
