Anaplan designed this Fair Use Policy to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted user experience. The measures implemented reflect common industry practices to maintain fair usage of the Anaplan Service.

With the purchase of the platform access subscription, the Client will be granted a Hyperbyte allowance (“Fair Use Limit”). A Hyperbyte is a unit of in-memory data processing capacity within the Anaplan Service, measured in 1 gigabyte (GB) increments.

The Fair Use Limit is assessed based on the number of Client Employees (defined as full-time, part-time, temporary, and contractors acting on behalf of the Client), the number of Use Case(s) being planned for, the number and type(s) of line of business involved in the planning process, as specified in one or more Order Schedule(s).

A “Use Case” refers to a business process or activity comprising of a sequence of tasks and steps designed to achieve a specific business objective and a Use Case can belong to a broader category that encompasses the set of activities within a process.

A Use Case has one or more of the following attributes:

  •        Leads to a distinct business outcome.
  •        Occurs on an independent, recurring planning cycle.
  •        Carries with it a discrete set of activities, each with different owners.

The Fair Use Limit is an estimate, based on historical trends and industry practices, that should be sufficient for most of our Clients provided that reasonable use guidelines are followed. Reasonable use includes but is not limited to Clients actively engaging in model management and deletion of dormant or unused workspaces, adopting best practices for archiving data, and following Anaplan’s documented best practices around model building.

To uphold the quality of the Anaplan Service for all Clients, we may adjust allocated capacity to more closely align with actual usage over the last 12 months. In such cases, we will notify and work with any Client who is impacted to understand how we can accommodate their needs

To determine the Fair Use Limit, we analyzed the distribution of Hyperbyte utilization within each Use Case and employee bands by line of business to ensure that 98% of our customers are within reasonable limits. However, we recognize that our customer base and offerings may continue to evolve over time. As such, we will review and revise our Fair Use Limits on a periodic basis to better support the planning needs of our Clients. Any changes will impact Clients whose contracts begin after the revision date but will not modify any existing agreements.

Similarly, a Use Case is representative of the planning capabilities that Anaplan delivers and may evolve as we continue to innovate, and Clients’ ecosystems evolve over time. As such, we reserve the ability and right to introduce new Use Cases as they arise as long as they don’t conflict with an existing use case.

Anaplan reserves the right to audit and amend the Subscription Fees in accordance with the Anaplan SaaS Subscription Agreement.
