The Matching interface helps users view, match, unmatch, approve, disapprove, or delete transactions.

  1. Select Matching from the navigation pane.
  2. In the Match Group dialog, select a match group from the dropdown.
The Transaction Matching opens with the selected Match Group.
  3. Select the Datasets you want to work with.
Your application administrator defines which datasets are available for each Match Group.
  4. After selecting the datasets, all related transactions display by default. Use the filter options to narrow the results and show only relevant transactions.

The Matching user interface remembers your last selections, so they'll be restored the next time you open it.

Access to the Matching interface and its features depends on your role-based security settings.
Some users may not have access to the module or may be restricted from using certain features.

Note: The buttons in the toolbar are inactive until you select a transaction. Select unmatched transactions to activate Match and Delete. Select matched transactions to activate Unmatch and Match Info. No selection, or a mix of matched and unmatched selections, keeps the buttons inactive.

Matching can occur between transactions in two datasets or within a single dataset:

  1. Select one or more unmatched transactions, then select the Match icon from the toolbar menu.
Selected Subtotal and Selected Difference display the total amount and variance of the selected transactions, respectively. Transactions will match only if the Selected Difference is less than the Max Variance in the Parameters panel. You can change this value in the Match Groups form.
  2. This displays the Match Info dialog. Choose between Absolute, Reverse, or Natural values by selecting from the Subtotal dropdown.
    • Absolute: The absolute value of the sum of all transactions. Sometimes, transactions in the General Ledger may have the same amount but opposite signs.
    • Reverse: The reverse amount of the sum of all the transactions. Reverse amount matching is similar to ‌absolute value matching but applies when the transaction amount in the source is the opposite of the corresponding General Ledger entry.
    • Natural: The total amount of all transactions, with a one-to-one match to the General Ledger data when the items are related.
  3. Add notes or an attachment, if required, and select OK.
You can attach only one file. If more files are required, use a ZIP file containing all the attachments.

You might need to unmatch transactions for several reasons, such as incorrect matches, partial matches, timing problems, changes in reconciliation, or duplicates:

  1. Select any transaction from a matched transaction, then Unmatch.
  2. In the confirmation dialog, select ok.

View details of a matched transaction, including Match Type, Confidence, User Name and Timestamp, Dataset, Subtotal, Variance, Match Rule, Note, and Attachment:

  1. Select a matched transaction, then Match Info.
  2. In the Match Info dialog, you can add notes and attachments, approve an automatically matched transaction, or disapprove an approved match.

You can't delete a matched transaction directly. First, unmatch the transaction to delete it. You also can't delete or unmatch reconciled transactions.

You might need to delete a transaction for several reasons, such as mistakes in data entry, duplicate entries, reversals, issues with reconciling, or compliance problems:

  1. Select one or more unmatched transactions, then Delete.
  2. In the confirmation dialog, select ok.

After you delete, you can view the deleted transactions in the Transactions Delete Log form.

Depending on your role and security authorization settings, you may not be able to access certain features, such as the Matching module, or use specific icons, including Match Info, Match, Unmatch, Support, Support Match, or Delete.
