Select the Member Selector tab to modify the members used in a dynamic chart.

  1. Within the Layout option, select the Member Selector tab.
  2. From the hierarchy dropdown, select a hierarchy.
  3. Drag and drop members to the Selection section on the Members tab.
  4. Select the ellipses next to the member in the Selections tab and choose an option:

The member selectedThe specific member that is currently selected for the dimension.
ChildrenThe direct sub-members of the selected member.
DescendantsAll the sub-members of the selected member, at any level of the hierarchy.
Lowest DescendantsThe leaf or lowest-level members in the hierarchy that are descendants of the selected member.
Descendants BetweenA range of descendants, specified by a start and end point within the hierarchy.
NextThe number or range of the next members to be used.
PreviousThe number or range of the previous members to be used.
In-Cell ChartDisplays a small chart (sparkline) within the cell of the selected member.
MoreAdditional selection criteria:
- First childSelects the first direct child of the selected member.
- Last childSelects the last direct child of the selected member.
- Same LevelSelects members that are at the same level in the hierarchy as the selected member.
- SiblingsSelects all members that are at the same level and have the same parent as the selected member.
- ParentSelects the immediate parent of the selected member.
- AncestorsSelects all the parent members of the selected member, up to the top level of the hierarchy.
- First SiblingSelects the first sibling of the selected member, which is the first member at the same level with the same parent.
DeleteDelete the member from the Selections section.
  1. Select the Advanced or Member Selector tab.
  2. Select the Aggregate dropdown and ‌choose from the options below:

SumCalculates the sum of all values.
AverageCalculates the average of all values.
MinimumReturns the minimum value.
MaximumReturns the maximum value.
  1. Select the ellipses next to Members or Default Member and choose from the options below.
    This dropdown presents a list of actions that you can perform after an aggregation (or other data manipulation) is complete. The purpose of these actions is to further refine or process the results of the aggregation.

Rank resultOrders the members based on a specified metric. The order of display is then rearranged.
Filter resultAllows you to include only certain members based on criteria you set. This filters the visible members.
Sort resultSorts the members alphabetically (ascending or descending) or by another criterion.
Member searchEnables swift location of specific members through a search query.
Outlier GroupingEnables you to group members based on their deviation from the average or other statistical measure.
SubsetCreates a subset or filtered view of the members. The original members remain, and a new selection is created.
NonEmptyDisplays only those members with non-zero values.
ExistsDisplays solely those members with associated data, which may differ from NonEmpty based on the intricacies of your data structure.
DistinctEliminates any duplicate members from the selection.
Aggregate MembersEnables you to aggregate selected members into a single summary.
EditEnables the modification of the selected member(s) properties.
Remove itemDeletes the selected member(s). This action is irreversible.

After selecting the options, select Apply.

Next to the Aggregate dropdown, are three icons:

  • Hide levels - hides hierarchical levels. 
  • Import using query - import members using a Multidimensional Expression (MDX) query from selected members on columns.
  • Add - Apply one of the actions listed in the above table that can further refine the results. Or select an option under the Add new section, which opens a new window for adding new members to the chart:

Select a range within the Excel sheet to populate a chart.  Create a slicer ‌to modify the chart based on a selected member.
