Review a log of user activities that affected the system's metadata, including the history of model, dimension, and hierarchy member processing, updates, insertions, and deletions.

You must have the role authorization Metadata Audit Trail > View under the Logs section of the Role Authorizations. This permission is initially toggled off by default.

It shows the date and local time of metadata changes, the user who made them, the affected metadata object, and a description of the changes. The date and time of processing these changes are also recorded. If a new dimension is created, the user must process the metadata for the Audit Trail to start tracking it and its members.

Metadata audit trail

The Metadata Audit Trail can be used as both an audit and a problem-solving medium. Its purpose is to provide a record of metadata changes, such as adding an entity, or changes to member properties, such as the Debit and Credit balance property for accounts. This feature can also be used to identify potential sources of problems users may encounter, as well as when they occur.

It tracks maintenance activity related to:

  • Dimensions and Members
  • Models
  • Maps
  • Mappings
