Review different Scenario dimension properties that play an important role in Anaplan Financial Consolidation.
Last Period property
This property is used to retrieve the rates from the prior period. If calculating P1, the prior period is usually P12 of the previous year.
The Last Period should be set to the last period of the year, which is 12. This may change if you combine using 13 periods or maybe consolidate on a quarterly basis. In that case, Last Period would be 4.
Is Periodic (Input Periodic) property
This property is used to define if data for a given Scenario is imported or input YTD or periodic amounts. This property is used in certain forms and certain calculations to automatically select the appropriate Measure member.
Amount is used to store YTD values and Period_Amount is used to store periodic values. This property is also used when running certain calculations, such as the Run All to know the order of calculations, but more importantly, to know the source of the data.
For example:
- If Run All is run on the Budget Scenario that has Is Periodic set to True, the system runs the YTD calculation first then runs Variation, Conversion, Consolidation, and so on.
- If Run All is run on the Actual Scenario that has Is Periodic set to False, the system doesn't run the YTD calculation because the data is already in YTD and runs the Variation calculation first, then Conversion, Consolidation, and so on.
Constant Currency Reporting property
These properties are used for reporting in constant currency. You can use these properties to change a data set for a given situation and use different rates or even ownership details.
For example, translate Actual data using Budget Rates, Actual data using Prior Period Rates, and Actual Data using Last Year Rates:

| Source Scenario | This property is used to set the source scenario for the constant currency calculation. Financial Consolidation automatically copies all data from the source Scenario to the target Scenario to have a complete dataset including data that doesn't need to be converted. When calculating Actual @Budget Rates, the Source Scenario is Actual. |
| Rate Scenario | This property is used to define which conversion rates to use in the constant currency calculation. When calculating Actual @ Budget Rates, the Rate Scenario is Budget. |
| Rate Year | This property is used to define which year to use when retrieving the conversion rates. When calculating Actual @ Budget Rates, the year is the same and the Rate Year can be left blank. However, when calculating Actual @ Last Year Rates, the rates are taken from the previous year compared to the Source Scenario data.

| Rate Period | This property is similar to the Rate Year. It defines which time period to use when retrieving the conversion rates for the Constant Currency calculation. When calculating Actual @ Budget Rates, this parameter can be blank. When you calculate Actual @ Prior Period Rates, this parameter is set to -1 because you want to use the rates from the previous period. |
| Ownership Scenario | This property is used to define the ownership scenario to be used for the Constant Currency calculation. When calculating Actual @ Budget Rate, the Actual Scenario is used because you want to use the same ownership details as the Actual Scenario without having to copy the details from the Actual Scenario to the Actual @ Budget Rates Scenario. |
| Ownership Year | This property is used to define the year used to retrieve the ownership rate for the Constant Currency calculation. For the Actual @ Budget Rates Scenario, you've not defined a year because you're using the same year. |
