Anaplan's Financial Consolidation workflow lets you send notifications to messaging applications like Microsoft Teams and Slack. Set up the connections to Teams and Slac, and configure the workflow to send notifications. Notifications can be used to inform user communities of workflow completions or failures.
Teams and Slack both rely on webhooks to provide integration with third-party platform such as Anaplan Financial Consolidation.
Microsoft Teams
To create a notification task:
- Navigate to the Teams group the notification needs to be sent to. Now, select the ellipsis and select connectors.
- Select Connections > Incoming Webhook and select Add. Select Add again in the Overview dialog.
- Enter a name for the webhook and select Create. Copy the URL when presented to your clipboard or save it to a safe location.
This URL is used to create the Data Source connection within Anaplan. - Select Done and open the Anaplan portal.
- Select Configure in the portal.
It defaults to Connection Strings.- Select + to add a new Data Source.
- Enter a name for the Data Source, and select Teams from the provider dropdown menu.
- Paste the Teams Webhook URL that was created earlier in Details.
- Select Save, and then select Save again to store the Data Source connection.
Set up notification in Anaplan workflow
This step can either create a new process, or add the workflow task to an existing process. In this example, a new process is being used.
- Navigate to Explorer. Now, select the ellipsis and select New > New Process.
- Enter the process name and select Create. Select the Task Toolbox menu and expand Notification.
- Drag and drop the Send Message object into the white space.
- Highlight the Send Message task and select the pencil menu to edit the settings.
- Enter a name for the task.
- Select the Teams Data Source connection you created earlier from the dropdown menu.
- Enter a message to be included as part of the notification.
The remaining settings are optional.
- Select Save to store the settings changes, and select Save again to update the workflow process.
- Select Run to test the notification.
- Navigate to Microsoft Teams to view the notification.
Slack
Slack webhooks for the installed application needs to be enabled by the Slack administrator. To enable Slack webhooks visit the Slack API page and in the Features menu select Incoming Webhooks. If the slider is Off, set it to On for the Slack channel you wish to send notifications to. Scroll down the page, and copy the Webhook URL.
To enable Slack webhooks:
- Visit the Slack API page.
- Select Incoming Webhooks from the Features menu.
- If the slider is Off, then set it to On for the Slack channel.
- Scroll down the page, and copy the Webhook URL.
- Select Configure from the Anaplan portal.
It defaults to Connection Strings.- Select + to add a new Data Source.
- Enter a name for the Data Source, and select Slack from the provider dropdown menu.
- Paste the Slack Webhook URL that was created earlier in Details.
- Select Save, and then select Save again to store the Data Source connection.
