Advanced ranking lets members stay in order when sorting. For example, higher-level members can be sorted with their children sorted below them.
For example, a grid report shows the product groups - Accessories, Bikes, Clothing, and Components - and their subgroups. You want to sort the Product hierarchy members by the current measure. This'll make the categories in ascending order and the subcategories below them in ascending order.
- Go into the Product hierarchy member selector. Within the Advanced tab, select the Sort icon or dropdown option.
- Sort by the current measure in 2002 in ascending order.
- Important: check the Keep children under parent box. Select OK twice to save changes.
The grid has been updated and sorted in ascending order by the amount of reseller sales for each category and sub-category. Accessories sales are the lowest, followed by Clothing and Components, then Bikes with the highest sales. In each of these categories, the sales for each subcategory are ranked in ascending order. For example, in the Accessories category, Tires and Tubes have the lowest sales, while Helmets have the highest sales.
