Members can be quickly excluded from a grid using the Grid ribbon or right-click menu.

To make member filtering more advanced, create a second list of members in the advanced tab of the member selector. Then, subtract the second list from the first list.

Here you have a simple grid, which shows lowest-level descendants of Promotions on rows and Geography on columns. You want to rank this report, and also exclude the Promotion No Discount, which isn't adding any value to the report.

  1. Edit the Promotions hierarchy and select the Advanced tab. Select the Add Member List option from the dropdown on the right to create an additional member list.
  2. Select the new member list or on the dropdown to the right-hand side and select Edit. This'll enable you to edit the member set:
  3. Select the member (or level/group) to exclude in the same way you would typically make member selections. In this case, you select ‌only one member, No Discount.
  4. You need to choose one of the operations below to perform on the two-member lists:
    • Add: left and right sides combined
    • Common: must exist on left and right side
    • Subtract: left side minus right side You will select the subtract operator to exclude the No Discount member
  5. You will also rank these Promotions based on the current measure, Reseller Sales Amount, by selecting the Apply Rank result option on the toolbar.

The Promotions hierarchy has been edited to exclude No Discount and then ranked.

You can add a Non-Empty to a set of members. This allows you to reduce the set of members in a result set,‌ increasing performance.

You can select the measure to be evaluated, which must have a value for the member to be returned, and optionally choose also a slice.
