Verify and troubleshoot data imports

During a data import in the Workflow module, you can open and view the staging table directly. By viewing the staging table, you can verify your data and catch issues before the system fully processes it.

When you select View Staging Table in the Validation Errors pane, a new tab opens that shows the staging table.  

Anaplan XL Reporting displays the View Staging Table tab. You can use Anaplan XL features, such as Print to PDF or Excel file or Download to Excel. 

If you select Run Validations errors again, you can also view the staging table from the Logs module. 

The View or Fix <Dimension> mappings buttons open the mapping editor for the dimension with the validation errors. This lets you ‌map missing source values to target dimension members.  The dimension name (for example, Entity) replaces the placeholder. Use this when ‌flagged values are legitimate members that need to be mapped. For example, mapping a value of A120 to its correct member in the Entity dimension — so the data can pass validation on the next run.

This option only appears for target dimensions that use the Map Mapping method in the Data Import Definition. 

This lets you re-run validation errors without reloading data to the staging table. This lets you re-validate against new configuration after changes made using the Fix <Dimension> Mapping feature. You usually run this feature from the workflow pop-up after going back from a change that affects the load, like fixing missing member mappings.

You can also open the Run Validation Errors pane straight from the Logs module. It works for both file loads through Workflow and scheduled loads.

The system shows the new Revalidate icon only for the most recent run of a Data Import Definition containing errors. For older runs, the icon still appears, but the system grays it out so you can't use it.

Generates an export file of current mapping errors so you can review, share, or reuse them as mapping rules. This is useful when validation surfaces dimension members that don't exist yet. You can download the errors and use them in the Configure module to build or update your mappings rather than resolving each one manually. 

Proceeds past the validation step without resolving the errors, allowing the process to continue as-is. You load only a part of the data to the staging or fact table. Use this when you want to move forward despite ‌flagged issues, such as when ‌errors are expected or will be addressed later through a separate workflow. For example, you select Skip validation because the file also contains statistical accounts, such as headcounts or volume, that produce errors. You don't use these accounts for reporting in this month's reporting period, so you don't want them to block the whole load.
