In Anaplan XL Web Edition you can deliver reports to users automatically.

This page describes scheduling with the embedded Anaplan XL Scheduler. For scheduling using the legacy Windows Service, see Scheduling with the SQL Repository (Scheduling Service).

Using a schedule, you can define which reports go to which users, and can optionally parameterize the results.

Scheduling maintenance is set up using the Anaplan XL Web Management application. For more details, review SQL Repository.

The scheduling module is made up of a few key parts, such as email servers, report distribution, schedules, andplaceholders

An Exchange or SMTP server is a computer that is configured to send emails. You will need to set one up so that reports can be delivered to your users.

Anaplan XL allows two different ways to set up the recipients for a report. The first is ideal for where the report needs to be sent to one or two people. Type in the email addresses and it's ready to go.

The alternative is to use either the groups built into your domain, or to set up custom external groups. These are slightly more complex to set up, but once set up, it's easy to create new reports with the same recipients. For more information, review SQL Repository on how to set up Groups.

A Schedule defines:

    • which reports get sent
    • who they are sent to
    • when they are sent, such as once, daily, weekly, or monthly, and on days of your choosing.

If you wish to have a different set of reports go to different people, then this would be a new schedule.

When using the SQL Repository, you can find scheduling errors in two places:

    • For general errors, run the Configure Anaplan XL Web Edition application, then select the SQL Repository tab. Select ‌the Administration button, then select the Admin > Logs > Schedule Log menu.
    • For errors and status information about a particular schedule, manage the schedule as described previously, and switch to the Run History tab.

Parts of the scheduling configuration, for example, distribution lists can be queried from a SQL query. For more information, see Control scheduling with a SQL query.

Existing schedules can be triggered by using a web service. For more details, see Schedule report using Integration Services
