Enter or update exchange rates to convert amounts from a local or functional currency to a reporting currency.

The Foreign Exchange Global Rates and Foreign Exchange Override Rates forms are used to view, edit, and manage exchange rates. 

The form provides a grid to update rates for different scenarios and time periods. 

  • View and filter: The form displays currency rates against a base currency, such as USD. The base currency is captured from the base currency attribute, which is set to TRUE in the currency dimension.  The grid can be filtered to find specific data.
  • Enter exchange rates: Enter the End or Closing rate and Average Rate for the required period. 

To access the form:

  1. Select the Maintain module.
  2. Select Foreign Exchange Global Rates within the Conversion card. 
  3. On the left of the form, select:

The table provided contains the icons and their respective functions in the Foreign Exchange Rates form. 

IconDescription
Bulk Import lets you upload a file with financial exchange rates. You choose the file and choose a comma, a semicolon, or a pipe as your delimiter. You can then choose to append the new rates to your existing rates or replace the current rates with the new ones from your file.
Bulk Export lets you download your current foreign exchange rates. You can choose a comma, a semicolon, or a pipe as your delimiter. 
Refresh your rates. This reverts the unsaved exchange values in the grid to the last saved values.
Save the changes to the foreign exchange rates. 

Note: If the selected scenario and date combination aren't set in Configure Open Period, a lock icon appears in the column next to the date member. 

To enter or modify rates:

  1. Select a date, scenario, and currency.
  2. Select the cell and enter a new value.
  3. Select the Save icon on the upper right toolbar.
    • Input Validation: The system validates data upon entry. If a negative number is entered, an error message is displayed, and the cell is highlighted. The entry must be corrected before saving.
    • A Global rates updated successfully message will appear. 
    • Usually, base currency rates are maintained as 1 and other currencies are maintained with respect to the base currency rate. 
  4. Select the Refresh icon on the upper right toolbar. This reverts the unsaved exchange values in the grid to the last saved values.

You can import and export rates by selecting the Bulk Import and Bulk Export icons on the upper right toolbar.
