You can use the Apply button in the member selector to see the changes you have made before leaving the dialog.
This can be useful in situations where you are using complex rankings. Such as finding the top 3 Geographies for Reseller Sales. Once you create the ranking in the Advanced tab, select the Apply button to view the results.
