Power BI connections are compatible with both MDX and DAX, allowing you to use grids and tabular report formats.
To connect to a PowerBI Desktop file, the file must be opened on your machine before trying to connect. Press the Connect button on the connection form and any open files will be listed, and you can pick from these.
As Power BI runs on the desktop machine of the user, these connections aren't available when published to the web.
