You can view, edit and delete existing connections for the workbook, and create new connections.

Use the Manage Connections form to create or modify connections. Manage Connections is available from the Anaplan XL > Connections ribbon.

One workbook can support multiple connections, each of which can have its own:

  • connector type
  • server address or environment
  • model, database or tenant
  • module, cube, or table.

Any connections you have previously made are displayed on the Recent Connections tab for easy access.

To create a new connection, open the Connection Manager from Anaplan XL > Connections and select the New Connection tab. Choose the connection type and provide the appropriate details.

For dimensions or cube connection types, choose the environment or server address. Then, select the required model, database, or tenant, and choose the module or cube.

Anaplan XL Reporting supports a wide variety of data sources, including relational databases and big data providers. For these connection types, you typically only need to specify the server address and the database to which you want to connect‌.

In the Manage Connections dialog, right-click a connection and set custom properties. These are applied to the connection string when the connection to the server is opened.

You can also set up the query time-out to prevent long-running queries from causing Excel to hang. This applies to any Anaplan XL Reporting query object, such as a grid, freeform, chart, or formula, that uses the connection.
