Find the answers for common connection issues with Excel Add-in Series 4 and understand connection cell and list limits.
Solve connection problems
If you cannot find the module you want to connect to, sign out and back in to the add-in to clear the cache. Alternatively, check your access permissions with your Anaplan workspace administrator.
Connect to a module with subsidiary views
You can connect to a module with subsidiary views in it, but the add-in does not display the contents of any subsidiary views.
Work within cell limits
There's a limit of five million cells of Anaplan data per worksheet. If a connection is created resulting in more than five million cells on a worksheet, the cell count displays in red and you cannot create the connection.
If a module with a list has more than one million items, the module is grayed out and cannot be selected. If you've a list with one million items, you can connect your module if your other dimensions do not take the whole module over five million cells.
You can have any combination of nested rows or columns, as long as the total cell count does not exceed five million.
If you need to display more than five million cells, split the data into multiple views and create multiple connections in separate sheets. Alternatively, pivot and filter your data to reduce the number of cells that display.
Although you can create a read/write connection with five million data cells, you can only send and refresh one million cells at a time.
See Excel specifications and limits for information on other maximum limitations.
Work within dimension limits
The limit for the dimension size of imported modules or views is one million items. You cannot create a connection to a module that contains a dimension with more than one million items.
Text line item limits
The limit for a view's text line item is 8190 characters. If you exceed this limit, a Create failed due to an unexpected error message displays. The connection is created without text line item values and with column and row titles in the connection view.
Display totals
Totals display at the bottom of columns in the add-in, regardless of the Totals Position that you select in Anaplan.
Object linking and embedding action message
If you receive a popup message from Excel stating that Microsoft Excel is waiting for another application to complete an object linking and embedding (OLE) action, select Close
