Creating Repeaters with Anaplan XL helps you display data based on user selections.

  1. Start with a Design Worksheet:
    • Open a new or existing Excel worksheet.
    • Create a grid report, like a Geography report. This can include simple or complex grids, charts, and Anaplan XL formulas like XL3Member and XL3Links.
  2. Create a Display Worksheet:
    • Make a new worksheet for the repeater.
    • Add a slicer, like a Geography slicer, to control what data shows up.
  3. Set Up the Repeater:
    • Select a cell below or next to the slicer.
    • Go to the Anaplan XL menu, select Visualise, and then Repeater.
  4. Select Members to Repeat:
    • Drag the hierarchy you want to repeat into the Repeater Setup section. For example, drag the Geography hierarchy.
  5. Choose the Slicer:
    • In the Member Selection tab, pick the slicer you created.
  6. Choose the Repeater Option:
    • Use the dropdown next to the slicer to choose how you want to display the data:
      • Children: Shows the immediate children.
      • Descendants: Shows all children and sub-children.
      • Lowest Descendants: Shows the lowest-level children.
      • Descendants at: Shows children at a specific level.
      • Next: Shows the next member.
      • Previous: Shows the previous member.
      • In-Cell Chart: Shows a chart in the cell.
      • More: More options include:
        • First child
        • Last child
        • Same Level
        • Siblings
        • Parents
        • Ancesters
        • First sibling
        • Last sibling
  7. Add Filters:
    • Add any additional members to the Filters section to refine your repeater.
  8. Select OK:
    • Select OK to apply the settings.
  9. Set the Repeat Range:
    • Select the cells in the design worksheet that include all the items you want to repeat. This is your data source. Include all grids, charts, and formulas.
  10. Set the Render Range:
    • Select the cells in the design worksheet of the data to show for the repeater. This could be a specific chart or grid.
  11. Set the Input Range:
    • Select the cells in the design worksheet that contain the member parameters used by the grids or charts.
  12. Insert the Repeater:
    • Once the repeater is inserted, right-click on it and choose:
      • Edit: Change the appearance or options.
      • Refresh: Update the data.
      • Move/Size: Adjust the position and size.
      • Copy: Duplicate the repeater.
      • Delete: Remove the repeater.

Following these steps, you can create dynamic and interactive Repeaters.
