Review the specific attributes that must be set for the consolidation process.

To open the Attributes form:

  1. Navigate to Explorer.
  2. Expand the Root > Global > Consolidation > Maintenance folder. 
  3. Double-click Attribute Maintenance, and open the attribute form.

You can also modify each dimension's attributes. To modify:

  1. Select Models in the Navigation pane.
  2. Select the Dimensions icon on the task bar.
  3. Double-click the dimension to modify the attributes.

Define and manage the attributes related to various accounts used in the consolidation process. It includes fields for accounts, captions, tags, and other relevant details.

Use this attribute to define the classification of account members, such as assets, liabilities, and equity. It works in conjunction with the Classification properties.

This attribute is used in ‌Period, YTD, and Consolidation calculations.

It defines whether an account is a debit or a credit. The member operator is often used with debit and credit to determine the appropriate sign of an account on financial statements. This property is used in the journal entry module and most of the calculations in Anaplan Financial Consolidation. It's also used when reversing the sign of a credit account when importing data from a source system.

Note: This attribute should also be set at the parent level.

It's used to tag certain accounts so that specific calculations work out of the box regardless of the member's name being used. 

Note: The system names below should be set for all systems regardless of the calculations used.

The most common attributes and where they're being used are listed here. These system names are always used in new calculations, so the list below may be incomplete.

Current Earnings

During the posting and unposting process, if a journal entry is posted against an Income Statement account, Financial Consolidation automatically transfers the Net Income to the Current Earnings account on the Balance Sheet. 

This account should be blocked so that Journal Entries aren't posted directly against this account.

  • Copy Journal Process – Year-End only.
  • Align Local TB YTD to corporate fiscal year calculation.
  • Different Year-End Reporting calculation.
  • Transfer of Net Income to Current Earnings in the Balance Sheet (Current Year Net Income (CYNI) calculation).
AOCI/OCI
  • AOCI: Accumulated other comprehensive income.
  • OCI: Other comprehensive income. 

Used in CYNI calculation.

The time balance attribute isn't used in consolidation calculations but is essential to set to obtain the correct quarterly and yearly totals when reporting ‌periodic data.

Profit & Loss and Cash Flow accounts should be set to SUM; Balance Sheet accounts to LAST; and the Cash Beginning account in the Cash Flow should be set to FIRST.

It includes mechanisms for tracking changes, verifying data, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

All Audit members containing source data must be set to Yes. Mostly all Audit members calculated by Financial Consolidation should be set to No.

Selecting Yes for an Audit member shows that any data stored in the Audit member will undergo consolidation calculations. Conversely, selecting No for an Audit member shows that consolidation calculations won't be performed on the data stored in that member. Generally, all Audit members used to store the outcome of a Consolidation calculation are designated as No.

For value member, both Conversion and Consolidation attributes are set to Yes or True.

  • Setting Converted and Consolidated to Yes: The calculation will be applied to these DataView members. 
  • Setting the Converted and Consolidated to No: The calculation won't be applied to these DataView members.

The provisioned system already contains a DataView hierarchy with the properties set. Usually, these attributes don't need to be changed from one system to another.

You can use this attribute if you want to change the name of a Dataview member. You can use this field to map your specific member's name to the appropriate system name.

These attributes are crucial for identifying and managing different organizational units within the consolidation process. It ensures that each entity, whether a subsidiary, holding company, or other organizational unit, is correctly represented and accounted for in the financial consolidation.

You can define the type of the entity as either Group, Entity, or Elimination. You can set:

  • A parent entity to Group.
  • An elimination entity to Elimination
  • All other entities, whether a holding company or a subsidiary to Entity.

This attribute is used extensively in reports and input forms to filter entities to retrieve certain entity types. It's also used in the Consolidation calculation.

This attribute is applicable to a non-group tenant only. For group tenant, this can be left as blank. This entity member, maintained in Elimination Entity, is used to store elimination entries for the corresponding parent entity.

Each parent entity must have a corresponding elimination entity.

These attributes are optional except for the Last Period unless you run the conversion on scenarios requiring constant currency conversion.

Last Period is used in several calculations and is required. It's set to the last period in the Date hierarchy number. You don't need to specify the Date member name but the period number. 

Note: For most systems with 12 periods, the setting will be 12. But, for certain customers in certain industries, such as Retail, there might be 13 periods. In this case, the Last Period would be set to 13.
