When you export data in a multiple column table layout, you can filter the export with Boolean line items. Use one or multiple filters to customize your export.
For example, if you want to export sales values for certain products, you can use a filter to only export data for products with a Boolean value of TRUE.
Example
For example, a Product Sales module has Time on pages, the Confectionary list on rows, and line items on columns. The Export? line item has a Boolean data type. If you only want to export data for Chocolates and Fudge, you can set up the export to use a filter.
Select the relevant checkboxes in the Export? line item to include them in the export.
Jan 22 | ||
Product sales | Export? | |
Chocolates | 1,300 | |
Sours | 980 | |
Fudge | 876 | |
Taffy | 1,220 |
When you use filters to export data, you can choose the module that contains the Boolean line item, and the Boolean line item to filter on. In this example, in the Export dialog, you can select the Product Sales module in the left-hand dropdown, then select the Export? line item in the right-hand dropdown.
With the above filter, the exported file only contains the data for the Chocolates and Fudge list items.
Example with multiple filters
Another Product Sales module has Time on pages, the City and Confectionary lists on rows, and line items on columns. If you only want to export sales data for Sours and Taffy in London and Edinburgh, you can set up the export to use multiple filters.
In this example, you must create two additional modules to drive the filters. The first module (City Boolean flag) contains the City list on rows, and the Export? line item on columns. The second module (Confectionary Boolean flag) contains the Confectionary list on rows, and the Export? line item on columns.
Select the relevant checkboxes in the Export? line item in each module. Below is an example of the City Boolean flag module.
Export? | |
London | |
Edinburgh | |
San Francisco | |
New York |
Below is an example of the Confectionary Boolean flag module.
Export? | |
Chocolates | |
Sours | |
Fudge | |
Taffy |
In the Export dialog, you can select the City Boolean flag module in the left-hand dropdown, then select the Export? line item in the right-hand dropdown. In the second filter, you can select the Confectionary Boolean flag module in the left-hand dropdown, then select the Export? line item in the right-hand dropdown.
With the above filters, the exported file only contains Sours and Taffy sales data in London and Edinburgh.
