In the Anaplan for Microsoft 365 Add-in, learn how to resolve conflicts you may encounter when you send and refresh a read-write connection from your Excel worksheet.

Send and refresh for the Anaplan for Microsoft 365 Add-on is in early access (EA). It's only available to participants of the EA program.

Find out more about early access or how to register your interest in our current EA programs.

Send and refresh allows you to update Anaplan with changes you make in Microsoft 365.

For most errors, select Refresh and check if the data in the model or your access permissions have changed.

If there have been no changes to the data in Anaplan and no changes to cell format in Microsoft 365, you can submit your data. To resolve data conflicts between Anaplan and Microsoft 365, you may need to exit the wizard.

When there is a value change for a cell in Microsoft 365 and the same cell in Anaplan:

  • Apply your changes to Anaplan.
  • Refresh all data to update Microsoft 365 with the values and cell formats used in Anaplan.

If any other conflicts are present, click Cancel to exit the wizard and resolve the conflicts, then try again.

Types of conflict

Cell value is incompatible with cell format in Anaplan

This conflict occurs when you enter a value for a cell in Microsoft 365 that is incompatible with the cell format in Anaplan. This can happen if the format changes in Anaplan between the previous connection and the Send and refresh.

Review your data and change the cell format in Microsoft 365 to a format that is compatible with the cell in Anaplan.

Cell type is unsupported

This conflict occurs when you enter a value in Microsoft 365 and the cell type in the previous Anaplan connection has no data.

The add-in supports the following data types:

  • Boolean
  • Date
  • List
  • Number
  • Text
  • Time period

Refresh your data to continue your data analysis with the latest Anaplan data, or contact your workspace administrator.

Metadata mismatch

This conflict occurs when your metadata is incorrectly configured.

Contact your workspace administrator to configure your metadata.

Cells are incorrectly formatted

This conflict occurs when your data is incorrectly formatted. For example, a date value in Anaplan must be formatted as a date in Excel.

By default, all line items have a Number data type. Other options include:

  • Boolean
  • Date
  • List
  • No data
  • Text
  • Time period

Refresh your data to continue your data analysis with the latest Anaplan data, or contact your workspace administrator.

Unknown data conflict

This conflict occurs when a value or format change has been detected, but the add-in does not recognize the type of conflict.

Refresh your data to continue your data analysis with the latest Anaplan data, or contact your workspace administrator.
