To create, duplicate, post, unpost, delete, and report on manual journal entries in the Journal Entries module, a journal configuration file must be added. It is recommended to customize security profiles based on user roles to decide which dimensions or members a user can read, write, or can't access.
As part of the initial implementation, journal entries must be configured before users begin to use the Journal Entries module. This is done at the time of implementation and doesn't change over time.
The Journal Entries Configuration screen enables you to set:
- Which dimensions appear in the headers vs. details, or if they should appear at all.
- Defaults for each dimension when querying journal entries or creating new journals.
- Filter criteria for members based on hierarchical structure or a member property.
Warning: Changing the configuration after journals have already been created can cause a loss of journal data.
