In an Anaplan Data Orchestrator (ADO) pipeline, you can use a PGP-encrypted version of a CSV file that is sourced from a supported file-based connector. PGP encryption provides data protection for CSV files loaded into Anaplan through pipelines.
File-based connectors
PGP encryption is available for all file-based connectors in ADO:
- Amazon S3
- Azure Blob Storage
- Google Cloud Storage (GCS)
- SFTP
File encryption and decryption
If you use a PGP-encrypted CSV file in the pipeline, ADO can detect that the CSV file is PGP encrypted based on the file suffix (.pgp or .gpg).
When ADO decrypts the file, it strips the encryption suffix from the filename and uses the underlying file type (for example, it converts sales_data.csv.pgp to sales_data.csv).
Note: ADO can also handle zipped files. Use the Gzip format to compress the file. For example, if the CSV file sales_data.csv is compressed using Gzip to sales_data.csv.gz, then when it enters the pipeline the file is expanded to sales_data.csv.
How to use PGP-encrypted files in pipelines
Before you use your CSV file in a pipeline, encrypt your file with this PGP public key: https://us1a.app.anaplan.com/.well-known/data-orchestration/pgp-key.asc
Then, create a pipeline with a supported file-based connector as the source. When you configure the source details, enter the PGP-encrypted file name in the Path pattern / name field (for example, sales_data.csv.pgp). When you run the pipeline, the system automatically decrypts and/or decompresses the file contents.
