Pipelines in Anaplan Data Orchestrator enable automated data movement between Anaplan and external source systems.
Pipeline process
To create pipelines, you need to use a connection that links Data Orchestrator with an external source system. You can either use an existing connection or create a new connection.
When you create the pipeline, you can also add steps to your pipeline to process the data as it runs through it.
Writeback and read pipelines
You can create either writeback pipelines or read pipelines:
- Writeback pipelines: Writes back data from a Data Orchestrator source dataset or transformation view dataset to external source systems.
- Read pipelines: Reads data from external source systems, and imports the data to Data Orchestrator to create or update source datasets.
View pipelines
You can view and manage pipelines from the Pipelines screen in Data Orchestrator.
To view pipelines in Data Orchestrator:
- Select Data Orchestrator from the top-left navigation menu.
- Choose a dataspace from the list.
- Select Pipelines from the left-side panel.
The pipeline details display in each column on the Pipelines screen. To change the displayed columns, select Edit columns. Edit the columns you want to display and then select Apply.
Select a pipeline link from the list to edit it's source and sink details. If you select the pipeline row, the right-side panel expands and displays the pipeline details.
To rename or delete the pipeline, select the ellipsis icon to the right of the pipeline row. For more information, see Manage pipelines.
Run pipelines with Workflow
After you create a pipeline, you can run the pipeline as part of an Anaplan Workflow. This enables you to automate data transfers based on a schedule, or trigger them manually as part of a larger sequence of tasks.
