Use a combination of Selective Access and Menu options to control user access to dashboard.

Classic dashboards are not supported for new customers. Build Apps or Pages in the User Experience instead.

Dashboards respect the Selective Access set across the model.

  • Roles > Versions: Dashboard elements only display the versions to which the user has access.
  • Roles > Modules: Dashboards are available to the user if they've read or write access to all of the modules the elements are published from.
  • Selective access on Lists: Dashboard elements only display the list items to which the user has access.

Workspace administrators can set up user access for each dashboard grid element individually.

When you edit a dashboard and select a grid or chart element, its menu options are displayed in the Dashboard Designer Properties panel on the left side.

The menus that are accessed from the dashboard element menu provide the basis for the organization of menu options. For example, you can choose whether your users can use the Pivot function from the View menu (View > Pivot). Similarly, from the Data menu, you can control whether users can use the Import function (Data > Import).

The Open source module controls whether users can open the module that's the source of a grid or chart element.

Select the options you want to make available to end-users and clear the options that you want to hide from them.
