Create a transformation view before you push the dataset to a model.
You can create a transformation view with either a source dataset or a derived dataset:
- Source datasets are datasets that are created when you extract data from a connection.
- Derived datasets are datasets that are the result of transformation views.
To create a transformation view:
- Select Data Orchestrator from the top-left navigation menu.
- Choose a dataspace from the list.
- Select either Transformation views or Source data from the left-side panel:
- If you select Transformation views, select Create view.
- If you select Source data, select the ellipsis to the right of the source dataset, and then select Create transformation view.
- On the Create transformation view page, enter these details and select Next:
- Name
- Description
- On the Choose a dataset page, select a dataset and select Next.
You can select a source dataset or a derived dataset .
If you can't find a dataset, enter a search term in the Find... field. - On the Source columns page:
- Select the columns you want to add to your view.
The columns you select display in the Output columns pane. - In the Output columns pane, you can rename the columns.
- Select Create.
- Select the columns you want to add to your view.
Note: Table-based data displayed in Data Orchestrator isn't displayed in any order. This is standard behavior in a table based system. You can apply a specific sort order when you preview the transformation view. Note that if you change the sort order in the preview, you can't save the updated preview. The preview resets the next time you return to it.
