Review different Entity dimension properties that play an important role in Anaplan Financial Consolidation.
Local Currency (Currency) property
The Local Currency field is used to set the Entity's local or functional currency. The system translates the local currency into one or more reporting currencies. Customers may also enter transactional currency amounts, but these amounts won't be translated. This property is used in input forms and the Journals module to automatically select the currency member for the journal entry.
This property is also used in other processes, such as the Intercompany Matching and the Validation report.
Entity Type property
This property defines the type for the Entity as either Group, Entity, or Elimination. A parent Entity is usually set to Group; an Elimination Entity to Elimination; and all other Entities whether a holding company, a subsidiary should be set to Entity.
This property is used extensively in reports and input forms to filter Entities so retrieve certain Entity Types. This property is also used in the Consolidation calculation.
Elimination Entity property
Intercompany eliminations in Financial Consolidation are handled using the concept of Elimination Entities. An Elimination Entity is required for each consolidation and sub-consolidation node. For those who want to apply the Elimination entity logic. Anaplan Financial Consolidation allows to eliminate intercompany transactions on the same entity.
The system eliminates based on the Most Common Parent Method.
Conversion Method property
Financial Consolidation supports the Self-Sustaining (Current) and Integrated (Temporal) methods of foreign currency translation. If no conversion method is selected, it assumes that the Current method is used.
Closing Period property
This property is used for the Align Local TB YTD to corporate fiscal YE and the Different Year End Reporting calculation.
| Parameter | Description |
| Align Local TB YTD to corporate fiscal YE | The property should be set to the closing period for the local entity. For example, if the consolidation year end is April and a local has a fiscal year end of December the value of this property should be set to 8 counting the number of periods starting in May and ending in December. |
| Different Year End Reporting | The property should be set to the closing period of the different YE that Anaplan Financial Consolidation will be calculating. For example, if the consolidation year end is April and new reporting year end is December the value of the parameter should be 8. |
Audit property
This property is used to define the default Audit member to use when importing data. Customers usually set this property to Import. But in some cases, customers may want to separate Import and create individual members for each source system, such as SAP and Oracle.
This property is also used in several input forms, such as:
- Acquisition Balance Sheet
- Balance Sheet Intercompany Detail
- Trial Balance Input
- Trial Balance Input – Intercompany Detail
Additional Reporting Currency property
This property is used to define additional reporting currencies that are required for certain entities. When you define this property in the Currency dimension, the system converts all local currencies for all entities. If you want to restrict the conversion to select entities, you need to define the additional reporting currencies using this property.
Trial Balance Input (Trial Balance Input Type) property
This property is used in the XML Trial Balance input form to determine whether the Trial Balance data is imported or input for each Entity. When the property is set to Import, the Entity won't be displayed as a selection in the Entity dropdown list. When the property is set to Input, the entity is displayed as a selection in the Entity dropdown list, and input is allowed.
Trial Balance IC Input (Trial Balance Input Type) property
This property is used in the XML Trial Balance IC input form to determine whether the Trial Balance Interco data is imported or input for each Entity. When the property is set to Import, the Entity won't be displayed as a selection in the Entity dropdown list. When the property is set to Input, the Entity is displayed as a selection in the Entity dropdown list, and input is allowed.
