Manage security roles effectively to ensure that users have the appropriate access and permissions within the Anaplan environment. This involves creating, modifying, and assigning roles based on organizational needs, ensuring compliance with security protocols, and maintaining an up-to-date list of authorized users and their respective roles.
Role management is performed in the Role Management tab of the Security module.
Anaplan Financial Consolidation has one role pre-created out-of-box, the Admin role. Other roles are created as needed. For example, you may want to create roles for the CFO, North American Controller, European Controller, Analysts, Report Users, Human Resources, etc.
The toolbar for the Role Management tab includes these options:
| Icon | Description |
| Add role. It adds a new role. | |
| Imports roles from an Excel or CSV file. | |
| Exports roles to an Excel or CSV file. | |
| Refreshes the roles list in the main window. | |
| Filters the list of roles based on a specified search string within the Name field. |
Add a role
To add a new role:
- Select the Security module and the Roles tab.
- Select the Add Role icon in the upper toolbar.
- Type a Role name, such as Controller.
- Select the checkbox next to the users to assign the role to, then select Save.
If you have a large list of roles to be added, select the Import icon on the upper toolbar, choose the file to import, and select Save. Select the Export icon in the upper toolbar to export an existing list of users to use it as a template for an import.
Note: Role names are restricted to 100 characters.
Security tips and best practices
It is recommended that an administrator create a table that consists of:
- Users who can log in to your Anaplan environment.
- A list of needed roles.
- Understand restrictions based on Folder, Objects, and Module Authorization for each role.
