For all modes, follow these steps.

You must run SQL Server 2008 or above, any edition. It can be run on a different server to Anaplan XL Web without any changes to the setup process.

  1. Create a blank SQL Server database, and grant full access to the user doing the installation.
  2. Set the Recovery Mode to Simple.
  3. Ensure the database is set to a case-insensitive locale and that the default locale for the server isn't case-sensitive.
  4. On the Anaplan XL Web Edition server, run the Configure Anaplan XL Web Edition application.
  5. Select the appropriate Web Edition instance.
  6. On the SQL Repository tab, and select Use SQL for Anaplan XL Repository.
  7. Enter the server and database names for the previously created blank database, and select Connect.
  8. The application will ask you if you want to populate the database. Select Yes to the message.
  9. Select the mode to run in:
      • Role-based — Active directory groups and users are assigned to roles. Roles are granted permissions to reports/functionality.
      • Domain-based — Active directory groups and users are granted permissions to reports/functionality.
      • Hybrid mode — Enables report usage tracking and text commentary - reports are stored in the filesystem or SharePoint.

Follow the rest of the setup for the mode you select.
