Install the PowerPoint Add-in so you can work with data from your Anaplan model in Microsoft PowerPoint. 

Before you begin, do the following:

  • Check you've met the requirements of the preinstallation checklist.
  • Uninstall any existing versions you have of the PowerPoint Add-in from your device before you install a different version.
  • Download the PowerPoint Add-in
  • Ensure you've closed PowerPoint on your computer. 

Install the PowerPoint Add-in from the .msi file

To install the Add-in:

  1. Double-click the .msi file you downloaded.
    The PowerPoint Add-in Setup Wizard appears.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Read and accept the end-user license agreement, and click Next.
  4. Choose an installation type.
    There are two installation types:
    • Only for me — installs the Add-in for you only. 
    • Everybody — installs the Add-in for multiple users of the device.
      Only select Everybody if you've been informed to do so by your Anaplan Tenant administrator.
      When an update is available, standard (non-administrator) users must consult with their company's system administrator to carry out the update. 
  5. Click Next.
  6. Choose an authentication type.
    Select either:
    • Anaplan username and password to sign in to the Add-in using the same email address and password you use to log in to Anaplan.
      You can then log in to the Add-in using the same credentials.
    • Single Sign-On (SSO) if your organization uses single sign-on.
      Enter your SSO friendly name, which you can obtain from your Tenant administrator.
      Your SSO friendly name is case sensitive.
      It displays at the end of your SSO URL:
      https//sdp.anaplan.com/frontdoor/saml/MySSOFriendlyName
  7. Click Next.
  8. Choose where you want the Add-in to be installed, and click Next.
    If you want to change where the Add-in is installed, click Browse.
    Then, navigate to where you would like the Add-in to be installed, then click OK.
  9. Click Install.
    Once the Add-in installs, click Finish.
    Follow the steps in Check the installation completed successfully.

When the installation completes, open PowerPoint.
The Anaplan tab should display at the top of the PowerPoint screen, in the ribbon.
If it does not display, try the following:

  1. Restart PowerPoint.
    The Anaplan tab displays. The installation is complete.
    If the Anaplan tab does not display, then:
  2. Enable the PowerPoint Add-in.
    The Anaplan tab displays. The installation is complete.
    If the Anaplan tab does not display, then:
  3. Follow the procedure below, and then return to step 2 of Install the PowerPoint Add-in from the .msi file.

Install the PowerPoint Add-in with Command Prompt

If the PowerPoint Add-in does not install after you followed the procedure above, a dialog displays with the following message:
Installer information:
You do not have sufficient privileges to complete this installation for all users of the machine. Log on as administrator and then retry this installation.

If this occurs, then follow the steps below:

  1. Close PowerPoint.
  2. In the Windows start menu search bar, type Command prompt.
    The search results display the app, Command prompt.
  3. Right-click this search result.
    A menu displays.
  4. Click Run as administrator.
    A User account dialog displays asking: Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?
  5. Click Yes.
    The Administrator: Command Prompt displays with the following code:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>
  6. Type:  msiexec /i "C:\folder path\AnaplanPowerPointAddin.Release.msi"
    • If you saved the .msi file in a different drive than the C drive, replace C with the name of that drive.
    • Replace folder path with the path to the folder that you saved the PowerPoint Add-in .msi file in.
      The Administrator: Command Prompt  displays the following code:

      C:\WINDOWS\system32>msiexec /i "C:\
      folder path\AnaplanPowerPointAddin.Release.msi"
  7. Press return.
    The PowerPoint Add-in Setup Wizard displays. 
  8. Follow the above procedure, Install the PowerPoint Add-in from the .msi file, from step 2.
