Get an overview of processes to update the Financial Consolidation after a business acquisition. Create the new entity, add it to the data model, create a new currency, and any other necessary steps for consolidation processes and data importing.
Add a new Currency
If the new entity requires a new currency, you need to add it first.
To add a new Currency:
- Add the new currency member to the currency dimension.
- Set member properties.
- Select Save and process to synchronize the meta data.
- Input rates using the FX rates input form.
The new currency displays automatically.
Add a new Entity
To add a new Entity:
- Add the new Entity member to the Entity dimension.
- Set member properties.
- Select Save and process to synchronize the meta data.
- When the Entity is added, the matching intercompany member is added automatically to the Intercompany dimension.
Update the Manage Ownership form
To update the Manage Ownership form:
- Access the Manage Ownership form and select the Actual Scenario.
- Expand the Entity hierarchy and select one leaf entity to review. The ownership percentage and rolled-up parents have been set up for the leaf entity. Ownership percentages for each consolidated group have been defined.
- Select the new entity from the Ownership table and update the required fields.
The table must contain a record for each consolidation level. - Save the form and exit.
Update the Direct Ownership Percentages
This is only required if an organization has Equity Pickup entities or if an organization uses the ultimate Rate Calculation feature.
- Select the Direct Ownership form.
Build the Import Definition for the new Entity
You need to create a new import process as part of creating a new Entity.
To create a new import process:
- Create a staging table for the data import.
- Create member mappings.
- Configure the data import definition.
File Import Workflow Process
To load data for the new entity, a file import process needs to be created. The file import task imports an Excel or .csv file into the staging table and then loads it into the data model. The import task can only be executed from a workflow process.
- Create a workflow process.
- Drag a line from the Start box to the new File Import process you created. Drag it to the middle Cloud icon. It should stay connected to the process once released.
- Save the process.
- Select Stop in the upper right corner.
- Select the same icon to run the process. All boxes should be Blue, showing in progress.
- Go to the Workflow tab.
The new Import process displays in the menu.
Input Balance Sheet for acquisitions
The acquisition balance sheet is used to calculate the total variation, which flows to the Cash Flow statement. The Acquisition Balance Sheet must be stored in local and translated currency, since Anaplan Financial Consolidation doesn't translate the Acquisition Balance Sheet.
Wrap up business acquisitions
Once the new entity has been setup, you can run all tasks and validate the data to conclude a successful implementation.
