Consolidation rule headers
The Consolidation rule form opens with all the Consolidation rule headers in view.
These columns for the Consolidation Rule headers are available:
| Header | Value |
| Consolidation | It's the name of the consolidation rule. Consolidation rules are then applied to Accounts using the Consolidation property. |
| Parent Consolidation | One or more consolidation rules can be assigned to a single-parent rule. This is used when there are multiple consolidation rules for a given account. It's used in the Account Attribute form. |
| Model | It's the model that the Consolidation rule will apply to. The default is the Consolidation data model. |
| Source Audit | This field is used to define the Source Audit member. It's rarely used and left blank, which means applying the consolidation to all Audit members. You use this field if reporting in multiple GAAP is needed. It's used in case when you want to consolidate using Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) rules for other Audit members and combine using IFRS. |
| Audit | It defines the target Audit member where the calculation result will be stored. |
| Source Dataview | It's used to define the Source Dataview member. This field is rarely used and left blank, which means applying the consolidation to all Dataview members. |
| Dataview | This field defines the Target Dataview member where the calculation result will be stored. The default is Consolidation. |
| Journal Number | Financial Consolidation generates an Automatic Journal Entry report for all consolidation rules. Each rule is assigned a specific number. This field is user-defined and can be typed in manually. |
| Elimination Dimension | The default value is False. This field isn't being used currently. |
| Elimination Entity | The default value is False. This field isn't being used currently. |
| Special Event | This field is used when certain rules are applied to all accounts. These rules include the rule that changes the Trial Balance for the Equity Method and the Proportionate Consolidation calculation. Both of these rules are applied to all accounts and aren't set using the Account Attribute table. Consolidation rules set to No are account-specific and must be set in the Account Attribute table. |
| Active | Use this field to activate a consolidation rule. A rule with Active field set to False won't be calculated during the consolidation process. Right-click a rule and select Activate or Deactivate. Inactive rules are highlighted in grey and appear at the end of the list of Consolidation rules. |
| Start Date | Use this field to define the start date for a consolidation rule. Time-sensitive rules are useful when there's a change in accounting standards. |
| End Date | Use this field to define the end date for a consolidation rule. Time-sensitive rules are useful when there is a change in accounting standards. |
| Source Scenario | Use this field to define the source scenario for a consolidation rule. |
Consolidation Rule Details
When you select a Consolidation Rule, the Details pane opens at the bottom of the screen displaying the details of the selected rule.
These columns for the rule details are available:
| Column | Value |
| Source Account | This field is used to specify the source Account member for the consolidation rule. |
| Source Movement | This field is used to specify the specific Movement member for the consolidation rule. Usually, this field is set to All_ for Balance Sheet Rules, which means that the rule will be applied to all movement members. It should be set to Closing for Income Statement rules. |
| Source Time | This field is used to specify the source time period to be used in the calculation rule. The available options are:
|
| Sign | Specify the operator to be used in the Consolidation. Allowable values are + and -. |
| Account | It's the target account that is calculated if different from the account to which the rule was assigned. If left blank, the target account is the same as the account to which the rule was assigned. |
| Movement | This field is used to specify the target Movement member. The calculation will be applied to all Movement members when this field is blank. |
| Force Closing | If a consolidation rule calculates a specific Movement member, such as Additions, this field automatically re-calculates the Closing member. This avoids having to create too many rules. |
| Intercompany | This field is used to specify the Target Intercompany member. Most of the time, this field is left blank, which means that the consolidation rule is applied to all Intercompany members. |
| Force Intercompany | This field automatically calculates the Intercompany Total leaf member to ensure that the details by trading partner equals the Intercompany Total leaf member. It's used when customers load intercompany details in the trading partner members and also use a Total Intercompany leaf member to load the total of all trading partners. The Force Intercompany parameter calculates the Total Intercompany leaf member. |
| Swap Equity Account | This rule is often used in Europe to change the original account for the Equity Method calculation. |
| Repartition | These rules are used to define the ownership rate to use for each consolidation method. Several repartition rules have been pre-configured, and can be found in the Rules Setup form under the Repartition Rules section. |
| Repartition Type | It is used to specify the repartition or distribution between the minority and the group amounts. The available options are described below.
|
| Source Other Dimension | This field isn't being used but has been added for future use. |
| Other Dimensions | Select other dimensions from the list. |
| Invert | This parameter transfers calculated amounts from the entity being calculated to another entity. For example, when calculating Equity Pickup, the Equity Entity is used as the source entity, but the calculated amount is stored in the Holding company. |
| Tax Rule | This field isn't being used but has been added for future use. |
