Create a recurring journal entry based on another entry.
To create a recurring journal entry from an existing entry:
- Navigate to the Journals module.
- Create a new query and select OK.
- Select an existing journal entry.
- Select Create New.
When you select an existing journal entry before selecting Create New, the existing journal entry is used as a template. The new journal entry contains the same members as the existing entry.
If you select an unposted journal entry, right-click, and select Duplicate. The right-click duplicate option is only available for unposted journal entries.
- Select Edit icon to modify the members of the dimensions.
- Select the Recurring checkbox.
- Select Edit icon next to Recurring To date and expand the required year and quarter.
- Double-click the correct month.
- Modify the JE Tag in the Create New Journal Entry window.
- Modify the description and select OK.
You can modify the Detail section of the recurring entry.
For example, you can add additional accounts, modify the existing ones, modify any non-static members, and modify the Debit and Credit amounts.
You can Save or Post the journal entry as required.
NOTE:
- If the Recurring To date is blank, the journal entry won't have an end date and will continue to recur. Once a Recurring To contains a date, the journal entry posting stops on that month. The Copy Journal Process runs the process of copying recurring journal entries and checking for a value in the Recurring To field.
- You can't modify the Recurring From date if you select an existing journal entry. The Recurring From date reflects the Current Period from the Global Variables.
