You must store image URLs in a line item with the format Text and the type Link. This enables you to select the URL when you add an image card to a page, or add an image placeholder to a dashboard. However, you can also store your image URL as a list-item property, then enter a formula in the line item that references the property.
In either case, you must format the line item as Text with the type Link.
Note: You can optionally enter display text for any Text cell with the type Link. If you do so, the data in the cell displays as hyperlinked text. You can leave the Display Text field blank if you only want to store the URL.
URL requirements
Host any image you want to display in Anaplan securely, at a publicly accessible URL. Image URLs must begin with https://
and end with a .jpg
, .jpeg
, .gif
, or .png
file extension.
You cannot include spaces when you enter the URL into the line item or list-item property. If your file location contains spaces, you can replace the spaces in the URL with +
or %20
when you enter it.
Manage image URLs
Whether you store your image URLs as line items or list-item properties, we recommend you manage images in a central module. This enables you to reference the same URL throughout your model and ensures consistency.
Store an image URL
To store an image URL as a line item:
- In Blueprint for the module that contains the line item, format the line item as Text, with the type Link.
- Select Blueprint to return to grid view.
- Select the cell into which you want to enter the URL and click the ellipsis (…) that displays on the right.
The Link and Display Text fields display. - Enter the image URL in the Link field.
Optionally, enter text in the Display Text field. - Press Enter.
If you only entered the URL, the cell displays the URL.
If you entered the URL in the Link field and text in the Display Text field, the data displays as a hyperlink over the display text.
To store an image URL as a list-item property:
- Open the list to which you want to add image URLs as a property and select the Properties tab.
- Select Insert in the toolbar.
The Insert into Properties dialog opens. - Enter Image in the input field.
- Select OK.
The new Image property displays as a row in Properties. - In the Format column, set the format of the Image property as Text, with the type Link.
- Select the Grid View tab.
An Image column displays, into which you can enter your image property data. - Select the cell into which you want to add an image URL, and select the ellipsis (…).
- Enter the image URL in the Link field.
Optionally, enter text in the Display Text field. - Press Enter.
If you only entered the URL, the cell displays the URL.
If you entered the URL in the Link field and text in the Display Text field, the data displays as a hyperlink over the display text.
Once you store your image URL, you can then reference it elsewhere in your model or use it to add an image to a dashboard, or app page.
