Template tables enable you to easily add predefined tables with useful metrics and formatting built into them. These can be used directly or further customized for your specific needs.

You can build tables on top of a cube or Pivot View. This lets you add calculations to the column definitions and let users look at the row members.

Columns can be formatted with standard number styles or be displayed as in-cell charts for simple visualization.

Apply IBCS formatting to indicate data categories like actual, plan, and forecast.

It's very useful, but not essential to define Business rules in your workbook. When rules exist, the template populates with defaults, and a table can be built with ‌a few selections. The templates use the same rules as Business Charts. If rules aren't defined, you can still make the selections you need in the designer.

The start point for the table design. You can hover over a template type to see an example table.
