You can use this feature to remove levels from your report, which can be useful when drilling.
The skip levels option can be used in grids, dynamic charts, and tree slicers.
Members of those levels won't be shown when skipping levels, even when directly selected in the grid.
Grids
For example, you have a hierarchy that contains:
- Year
- Semester
- Quarter
- Month
- Day
You want to skip past the semesters and go directly to the quarters.
In the Date member selector, go to the Advanced tab. In the Skip Levels screen, deselect the Calendar Semester level.
When you drill down on years, you see quarters.
Slicers
You can make the same changes in a slicer. Make sure you select Use query restrictions for children.
The result is a tree that again goes directly from year to quarter.
