Each page can only display data from one source model at a time, but with a Professional or Enterprise subscription you can associate multiple models with a page. This enables you to switch between source models for a published page, a draft page, or in preview.
You must be a workspace administrator and a page builder in order to associate multiple models with a page.
Models that you associate with a page display as options in the Switch source models drop-down list.
Workspace administrators with access to an associated model can unassociate the model from a page at any time, so long as there's another associated model to act as the source.
Enable multiple models
To associate models with a page, you must enable multiple models for the page.
If you have Professional or Enterprise subscription, and you're a workspace administrator for the current source model, an Enable multiple models toggle displays in the top-right corner of the Source model tab in Page settings.
To enable multiple models for a page, toggle the Enable multiple models toggle to the right. The Add model button displays on the left of the Source model tab. A list of the models currently associated with the page replaces the Workspace and Model drop-down lists.
Once enabled, you can only disable multiple models when there's only one model associated with the page. Learn how to unassociate models from a page.
If you do not have entitlement, the toggle does not display, but you can still change the source model of a page from the Source model tab.
Prepare models to associate
As a workspace administrator, you can associate any model you have access to with a page. However, it's best to only associate models that you've prepared for use as part of the same ALM workflow. This ensures that the models have compatible data structures that can work correctly for the same page.
Associate a model
To associate a model with a page:
- In the Source model tab of Page settings, click Add model.
A new row displays at the bottom of the list of associated models.
On the new row, drop-down lists display under the Workspace and Model headers.
- Select a workspace from the Workspace drop-down list.
- Select a model from the Model drop-down list.
- Click Apply.
The model is associated with the page and displays in the list of associated models.
The list of associated models reorders to display the most recently added model at the bottom, and the rest display in alphabetical order.
The Page settings dialog remains open after you apply the change so you can adjust other settings as needed. To close the dialog, click Close.
